Food on LodgeTrek

On lodge treks clients are provided with three meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Menus will be fairly standard, according to the region visited, but will vary in style from place to place, according to availability of ingredients, and in more remote areas choice will be relatively restricted to local food items. However, in the main, menus will contain a mixture of local Nepalese, Indian and Western dishes.

If you have any special food requirements, we must be informed of these. For example if you suffer from Coeliac disease and may not eat any gluten products, we will do our best to accommodate this, and some menu items are prepared with gram (chickpea) and rice flour, so you should enquire about this when ordering your food. However, you might find it advisable to bring along one or two of your favourite products as speciality non-gluten foods are not yet widely available in Nepal. If you are a lacto vegetarian, there are no problems at all in catering for your needs. However if you are vegan, you may wish to bring along an acceptable egg substitute, or some soya milk products to supplement the diet we can provide you with and which will allow us to offer you a varied menu.

It is extremely important that we be advised in the event of any food or nut allergies. Whilst we will obviously do our very best to make sure that you are not served anything to which you are allergic, the onus is upon the allergy sufferer to ensure that he/she does not eat anything that contains forbidden ingredients, by asking the lodge cook/guide about the ingredients of any dish.
