Trekking Permits

The regulations have recently changed in Nepal regarding trekking permits, and now some regions require them and some don't. You will be informed if your particular trek requires such a permit and the application forms will be filled in after your arrival in Kathmandu. We (Access-Himalaya) will then arrange for the issue of your trekking permit: all you have to do is to supply two passport size photographs and your Passport or Passport photocopy. Simple trekking area permits may be acquired with just passport photos copied, pasted and forwarded to us, and we will let you know if andf when this is the case, especially if time is short or you may be arriving in Nepal on a festival day, when offices are closed. Please note that permits to visit some restricted areas in Nepal are extremely expensive - for example, Upper Mustang and Shey Gompa cost US$500 for the first 10 days. In addition most restricted area permits may not be applied for until the client is actually in Kathmandu, as the original passport is required.
